Better!!

Thanks so much for all the prayers for baby boy! He went to the doctor yesterday for a check up and he is doing better! Still on breathing treatments every 4 hrs through today and then every 6 hrs through the weekend and then we will see how he is doing on Monday. If he is feeling and sounding good we can stop the treatments and just do them on an as needed basis! Yeah!!! Today he seems really good and has not coughed a whole lot, which really makes us happy!!!

We are glad he is feeling better just in time to leave for our trip to Tennessee on Sunday. We are going for Spring break with my mom, grandma, brother, his wife and my 3 nieces. We are going to Pigeon Forge, staying in a cabin and everyone is really excited! This will be some much needed rest and just some time to relax and have fun with family! We will update with baby boy's 11 month news and our trip when we get back next week.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!! So glad we have had some warm weather, just hope it comes back to stay for good soon!!! Loving this sunshine!!!

Sick and Exhausted!

Well baby boy is really sick this time. What started off as an ear infection quickly turned into something very serious. He had some wheezing and coughing that really didn't set right with me when we went to the doctor on Friday, now to refresh this was not his peditrician he saw because she doesn't work on Fridays and that office didn't have anything available and wanted me to take him to immediate care to people I didn't even know!

So we started an antibotic on Friday because he had an ear infection well I knew something just really wasn't right with his breathing so I watched him all weekend and called his pediatrician first thing Monday morning and got him in. Well my little man has bronchiolotis (caused from RSV) and is now on neb treatments every 4 hrs for 72 hours and then every 6 hrs for about 10 - 12 days. This was after an extensive exam at the doctor, a neb treatment that he screamed through and a chest x-ray that was horrific to see because they put the little ones in some contraption to keep them still!! We were exhausted by the time we got home!

He has been a champ since coming home and doing his breathing treatments. We put on Cars and just turn it up really loud over the machine and he really only starts getting fussy towards the end! We go back Thursday for a check up. I thought he sounded a little better this morning, but then tonight I thought he sounded really bad again so I am not sure.....

I do know we are all exhausted and really need some good rest! I really hope he kicks this soon and starts feeling better - I hate seeing my baby so sick!!!

The joy of eating!!

Ahh...the joying of finally getting to really eat something good! I went today to the oral surgeon for another check up and got really good news. I can eat whatever I want and I get to get these brackets off!!! WOOHOOO!! Everything is looking good so far, I went from 7 mm's opening to 16 mm's opening, which he said is good. Still really sore, I just have to keep working on stretching and getting my opening wider, our goal is 30 mm. I still have some numbness in my cheek which he said there is a nerve there close to where the incision was so it could be permanent or I could have it up to six months or longer, I am going to hope it goes away, but if that is all the damage I come away with considering there were numerous risks I will take it, its only on the inside of my cheek, not really a big deal and not my whole cheek.

The bad news is they can't schedule to remove my brackets until April 13th, that is his first opening. He is on vacation all next week, I am gone on vacation 3 days after he gets back and then he doesn't have anything until then. They were going to have him look at his schedule and see if he can't fit me in before then and call me back - there is NO way I can wait another month before getting these things off, they are so irritating right now and I think one tooth might have a cavity or my gums are just really irritated from the brackets because its SO sensitive right now!

Baby boy is sick right now. It started coming on last Sunday, we thought he might be teething. I had called the peditrician earlier in the week because he had a low grade fever, nothing over a 100, he never really runs a fever, we have been up every night for at least 2 hours at a time and nothing sooths him except a bottle and he hasn't has bottle in the night since about 4/5 months) a slight rash on his upper chest and lower chin (but he has been drooling like CRAZY, I mean buckets at a time lately) and they said that he was probably teething (you know this poor little guys doesn't have any teeth yet, the are all going to come at once - Lord help us all when they do!!!) and just to keep giving him Tylenol. Well poor little man woke up this morning with a horrible chest cough and snot just pooring down his face.

I called peditrican to get him in today. Now his pediatrician isn't in on Fridays and I know this, but I told them he needs to be seen I am sure he has an ear infection. Well they have nothing and tell me I will have to take him to immediate care...now mind you we have $0 co-pay at the doctors office and to go to immediate care we will have to pay between $50- $70 - I just got laid off and had a $30,000 surgery so no I am not doing this so I call my doctor...they tell me they are full too. So I am furious by this point.. my little man is 10 months old and just because he isn't running a fever they don't see is as immediate to see him....we once I got nasty with her she somehow found 3 different times he could come this afternoon...hmmm imagine that!!!

So sure enough first look into his left ear and its extremely red - ear infection! No fever either! I knew he had one, this little guy just doesn't scream at night for no reason! Always trust your mommy instinct!! He is now on an antibotic so hopefully he starts feeling better soon and him and I can both get some sleep!!!

I can eat...well sort of!

My trip to the oral surgeon Tuesday was some much needed relief...in some ways!!! They took the bands off and I am now able to open...but I can only open up to 7 mm...hey you have to start somewhere right!!! But boy you want to talk about stiff, sore and painful...whew! Its is just like having a cast taken off and it hurts like heck to move but we are making some progress and the best part is I get to EAT!!! I can only have soft foods but I am in heaven right now because I was so hungry!! I can pretty much eat whatever I can that I don't have to chew, I still have to rest until Tuesday of next week then I have to aggressively start my physical therapy to start getting my mouth to open up again. If I don't do a good enough job then they will have to really send me to a physical therapist and I don't think I want that because they will be really aggressive and it will really hurt so I have to do my best to get this baby to open up.

Now the nasty part of all this is when my mouth was wired shut I have all this black stuff from all the metal brackets all over my teeth and now I can't get it to come off. Part of its because I still can't get to the inside to brush really good and just can only use the prescription mouth wash but its really gross and I just want it all off!!! I go back next Friday and I am really hoping we can schedule to get these brackets out of my mouth. They have to put me to sleep to do that, no pain for me, I hate people messing with my teeth!!!

So we are on the road to recovery now comes the big question of did this work or not. I am really scared because I do have some pain in that area and I don't know if I am supposed to or not. I don't know if its just sore because of everything thats been done to it and it still just needs time to heal or if its pain still from the TMJ....guess I will find out more next Friday...keep your fingers crossed its not the TMJ!!!

Crazy week and 10 Months!

Wow, where to begin...

I will start with my baby boy! He is growing SO fast. He just turned 10 months and is now 22 lbs with these chubby little cheeks I could just eat up and these chunky little legs that just go and go and go! He is on the move from the time he gets up until the time he goes to bed! He is babbling so much and says hi, mama, dada, bye-bye and I think that is about all we can understand at this point. Its hard for me to teach him new words right now since my mouth is still wired shut, but it doesn't stop him from talking up a storm to us!

He also loves to play with bowls on the floor, he loves to pick them up, throw them in front of him and chase after them. He really likes to throw them up the stairs and go up after them. He is also good at going through the gate from the living room to the kitchen he just opens and goes right through as fast as he can...its so funny because he stops in the middle of the gate to see if you are coming to get him and stop him and then he trucks off as fast as he can running from you and just laughs as he is running from you!

He also LOVES to eat! He eats anything we put in front of him and you better be fast or he is going to let you know how slow you are! He now grabs your hands or arm, whatever he can get ahold of to let you know you are being to slow! He plays with his own spoon and has put a few bites in himself but he doesn't really have the hang of it. We try to put some stuff on his plate for him to pick up to eat but he doesn't really like the feel of it and will just toss it of his tray, but he's working on it!

He is also starting to stand a little bit on his own. He has taken like one step but that is about it, not close to walking but heading in that direction. He is now crawling and pushing up with his back legs like he wants to stand is the funniest thing to watch! He has a car that he sits and rides on and he can now walk behind it and push it and he is really good at that and if he falls down he can pull up and keep walking.

He is the sunshine in our day and we can't wait to see what this month brings!

As for me I am STILL wired shut. Tomorrow will be the start of 6 weeks and I am very hungry!! I go back to the oral surgeon on Tuesday and I am hoping they are going to take the bands off so I can start to open and close and then I will be able to eat soft foods. They want me to start opening/closing and make sure its not going to shift before taking the brackets completely out because to do that they have to put me to sleep again, but it will just be a local and nothing as major as my original surgery. So I am looking foward to Tuesday and getting so real food in my stomach because these liquids are not doing awhole lot for me these days!

Onto the not so good news....I got laid off from my job on Thursday last week. I am sad to not have a paycheck but glad to be able to stay home and spend time with my son. But I am looking for another job but as we all know there just is not a whole lot out there these days....I know that God has a plan and my faith is in him and this will work out.

Well I am off to relax as the little one has been getting up in the night, I think he is teething, no teeth yet, they will all probably come through at once. Better get some sleep in before he decides to get up and I haven't had any rest!!!

Getting by...

Wow....let me just tell you this is going to be the longest 5 weeks of my life. I knew it was not going to be easy having my jaw wired shut by I NEVER imagined it was going to be THIS hard. I am such a picky eater to begin with so with this there are about 3 foods that we can actually get liquified to go through the syringe that actually taste good enough that I will eat. Now I can still do shakes and carnation drinks and juices but I am not much of a "sugar" person to begin with and this is overload in its finest so I have to do this in moderation and its hard when I don't have much to choose from. And the weight loss, well I am trying to watch it, it has been about a week and a half since my surgery and I am already down about 7 lbs...not good for me so I try to make sure I am drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated, this is really hard!

Now the other hard parts of this are I still have some swelling and numbness, not much but just enough to bother me. Yesterday I felt pretty good but this morning I woke up swollen and feel awful, I will be heading home 1/2 day today from work to get some rest and apply some ice to the swelling again. Also the "good side" of my mouth which is the right side doesn't understand all this trauma and it tries to "jerk" open and it is the MOST painful feeling in the whole world, almost brings me to tears sometimes. They say this is a normal reaction to my mouth just wanting to open like normal. So its really hard to get it to just relax. And the metal brackets they used to wire this bad boy shut - oh my...they are SHARP! I have some wax on there but have to be careful not to put to much then I can't talk, not that I do that very well to begin with so I just try to make sure I have a full tube for chapstick with me at all times!!! I just say my prayers that the Lord is going to carry me through this because I know I need his strength to get through it.

I go back to the oral surgeon tomorrow for my post-op appointment, I am curious to see what he has to say. Please keep me in you prayers, I need all I can get to help me over the next several weeks!!!

On another note, baby boy turned 9 months old on 5th of this month...where has the time gone. He has been one busy busy boy. I will get a post on him up soon...maybe a picture or 2 as well, but I will take them down soon so you will have to pay attention to when I post about him!!

Okay, off to do some work before I head out for the day for some rest. Hope everyone is staying warm, we just got several inches of snow and are looking to get more this weekend!! Come one SPRING!!!
